Research

I conducted diligent research on the topic of my research. This does not mean that I simply spent one afternoon looking up articles related to my topic. This was a process of many months to seek out the best research for my PhD paper. The reason why this research is necessary is due to several factors.

Firstly, you need good background context on your topic before you decide to pursue a PhD based on it. This means that you need to be up-to-date with the latest research about your topic. The best way to do this is by reading the news regarding your topic area, and to also look at academic journals, which will have an archive of literature related to your subject.

Another reason why research is so crucial is because you need to choose the right topic. A big requirement for success in composing a PhD paper is that your topic needs to add something new to the field. Simply regurgitating existing knowledge is not sufficient to fund your research. Your supervisor and faculty need to be convinced that your research proposal will add something new to your field.

Passion

Another reason why I did not run into too much trouble when proposing my research to the faculty is because I am genuinely passionate about my subject. This was clear to see in my undergraduate and masters degree grades. My supervisor was also aware of my interest in the topic.

Having a passion for your subject is vital for success in your research. This is why it is vital for you to have a deep and longing interest in the topics you write about.

Time Management

When undertaking PhD research, there are not many deadlines that you have to meet. However, with the deadlines that I did have, I made sure that I met them ahead of schedule. Time management and organizational skills are extremely important if you want to succeed in your research.
